The Korea Forest Service announced that, as of 8:00 a.m. on June 20, the landslide crisis alert level for all 17 provinces and metropolitan cities nationwide will be raised to "Caution."
The Korea Meteorological Administration forecast that, from June 20 to June 22, there will be nationwide rainfall ranging from 20 to 100 mm, with some areas expected to receive up to 150 mm or more.
In response, the Korea Forest Service held a situation assessment meeting and decided to raise the nationwide landslide crisis alert level after comprehensively considering the nationwide rainfall outlook and related factors.
The crisis alert system consists of four levels: Attention, Caution, Alert, and Serious.
Choi Hyunsoo, Director of the Landslide Prevention Division at the Korea Forest Service, stated, "As heavy rainfall is forecast for the time being, we urge the public to pay close attention to safety alert text messages, disaster broadcasts, and village announcements." He added, "If an evacuation order is issued by the local government, please evacuate quickly to designated shelters such as village halls."
