Yeongdeungpo-gu Opens Three Indoor Park Golf Courses, Four More to Open in Second Half of Year

Yeongdeungpo-gu in Seoul has established three 'indoor park golf courses' that can be used regardless of weather or season, in response to the rapidly increasing demand for park golf and the aging population. The opening ceremony will be held on June 23. The newly opened locations are Branch 1 (Singil 3-dong New Office Building, 2 bays), Branch 2 (Yeongdeungpo No.1 Sports Center, 1 bay), and Branch 3 (Singil 3-dong Former Office Building, 5 bays).

The indoor park golf courses are open on weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Each session lasts 1 hour and 50 minutes. Reservations for the following month can be made through the Yeongdeungpo-gu Facilities Management Corporation website. Residents of Yeongdeungpo-gu can make reservations starting on the 25th of each month, while non-residents can reserve from the 28th. At Branch 1, Wednesdays are reserved exclusively for people with disabilities, and Fridays are for seniors aged 75 and older; these groups can use the facility after making a reservation by phone.

In addition, the district is currently constructing four more indoor park golf courses, which are scheduled to open in the second half of the year. Once completed, there will be a total of seven indoor park golf courses in the district, with 26 bays in total, allowing up to 104 people to use the facilities simultaneously.

The new indoor park golf courses are located in unused spaces within community centers or sports facilities, offering excellent accessibility. They are also equipped with barrier-free features such as ramps, so that people with disabilities and seniors can use them comfortably. The opening ceremony will take place at 4:00 p.m. on June 23 at Branches 1 and 3. At Branch 1, a meeting with the park golf club manager will also be held.

Choi Hokwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, "The indoor park golf courses, which can be used regardless of the weather, are essentially equivalent to adding another 18-hole park golf course. I hope that seniors will be able to exercise year-round in the indoor park golf courses, maintaining a healthy body and a youthful spirit, regardless of the summer heat or winter cold."
