Diversifying Coffee Business Alongside Angel-in-us
Additional Openings Planned This Year and Nationwide Expansion in the Future
On June 20, Lotte GRS announced that it will open the Wirye branch of its new brewing coffee specialty brand, Stanbru, as part of its efforts to diversify its coffee business.
Stanbru, Lotte GRS's new coffee brand, has adopted a concept that allows customers to enjoy desserts alongside high-quality, value-for-money coffee menus. This concept was developed to meet the preferences of customers who seek expertise and quality, rather than simply focusing on price and quantity as purchasing criteria.
In line with the brand concept, Stanbru will offer its signature Stanbru Coffee, as well as unique menu items such as Tangerine Brew?a blend of coffee and tea?and Milk Brew, which uses a new method of extracting coffee in milk. The menu features a total of eight types of brewing coffee, allowing customers to experience the distinctive flavors of single-origin beans from Ethiopia, Colombia, and Guatemala. Reflecting the high-quality, value-for-money concept, brewing coffee is priced at 3,500 won, Americano at 2,800 won, and Pasteur milk ice cream at 3,000 won.

The Stanbru Wirye branch is a single-story store with approximately 25 pyeong (about 82.5 square meters) and 39 seats. Compared to the average Angel-in-us store size of 80 pyeong, the Wirye branch is about 69% smaller, reflecting a differentiated store expansion strategy based on the characteristics of each commercial area. Stanbru plans to expand its presence mainly in residential and small-scale commercial areas, while Angel-in-us will focus on key commercial districts and multi-use facilities such as shopping malls and offices, with each brand pursuing a distinct store expansion strategy.
The first Stanbru Wirye branch is located on a corner with exposure on both side and rear roads, along a main street, making it highly accessible and visible. With approximately 5,000 households in adjacent residential areas and a concentration of educational institutions within the Wirye central commercial district, strong demand is expected from the core buying demographic of customers in their 30s and 40s.
Stanbru has introduced brewing and espresso coffee automatic machines and standardized cup sizes to provide value-for-money coffee offerings and consistent coffee flavors in an era of persistently high wages and inflation. This approach enables efficient equipment investment and menu composition. With the opening of the Stanbru Wirye branch, the company aims to open additional directly operated stores in the Seoul metropolitan area within the year and plans to further expand the brand nationwide by opening stores in major cities across the country in the future.
A Lotte GRS representative stated, "As a foodservice franchise company, we are testing various business models this year, including Dutumuse Hamburg and Mukyoku, and Stanbru is also part of our store expansion strategy in line with foodservice trends. We will continue to lay the groundwork for growth through various approaches going forward."
