Gyeonggi Province Designates Six Additional Startup Innovation Spaces

Gyeonggi Province has selected six additional organizations to operate designated Gyeonggi Startup Innovation Spaces.

The designated type refers to startup spaces where Gyeonggi Province indirectly supports operations by publicly recruiting and selecting outstanding organizations that manage startup support facilities.

These designated spaces will form a cooperative and complementary relationship with the hub-type Gyeonggi Startup Innovation Spaces, which are directly established and operated by Gyeonggi Province, thereby playing a role in expanding a sustainable foundation for startup support.

The newly selected organizations are: Sungkyunkwan University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, Dankook University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, Korea Aerospace University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, Gwangmyeong City, Korea Women Entrepreneurs Association, and Pyeongtaek Industrial Promotion Agency. Gyeonggi Province will evaluate the operational performance of each organization annually and provide differential support for three years from the date of designation.

Last year, Gyeonggi Province selected and supported 12 designated organizations, including Dongguk University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation (which operates the BMC Startup Incubation Center). These organizations provided a variety of specialized programs, including nurturing 357 companies as well as offering education, consulting, investment IR, business commercialization, and networking support.

In line with the "Pangyo+20 Venture Startup Cluster Development Plan," Gyeonggi Province is preparing more than 20 Gyeonggi Startup Innovation Spaces. With this additional designation, the province has secured a total of 26 spaces, including 8 hub-type and 18 designated-type locations.

Lee Seongho, Director General of Future Growth Industries at Gyeonggi Province, said, "We will do our utmost to further strengthen the foundation of the startup ecosystem in the province through the expansion of designated startup innovation spaces and actively support the practical growth of local startups."
