The Gwangju Regional Veterans Affairs Office announced on June 19 that the Veterans Support Center held a job competency enhancement workshop for mid- and long-term veterans who served more than five years at the Jeonnam Eastern Veterans Affairs Office.
The workshop, held that day, was a customized program designed to support veterans' reintegration into society and stable employment. It was organized by the Gwangju Veterans Support Center and operated for veterans in the eastern region of Jeonnam. The program focused on practical job understanding and interview strategies, as well as government policy directions such as regulatory innovation and proactive administration.
The event featured practical and case-based lectures, including: 'Successful Strategies for Employment in Production Facility Management' by veteran mentor Kim Jaehong; 'Introduction to Disaster Safety Occupations' by mentor Oh Changwon; 'Storytelling Interviews for Success Using Your Own Story' by a professional instructor; and 'Guidance on Support from the Veterans Support Center.' These sessions received a positive response from attending veterans, providing them with practical confidence and valuable information for transitioning to civilian jobs.
One participating veteran said, "My job search preparation, which had felt vague, became much clearer, and I gained courage by hearing the mentors' real-life experiences. I hope there will be more practical, hands-on training like this in the future."
An official from the Gwangju Regional Veterans Affairs Office Veterans Support Center stated, "We will continue to do our best to provide customized employment support to strengthen veterans' competencies, expand employment opportunities, and help ensure their successful reintegration into society."
