A Festival of Light and Flavor to Delight All Five Senses
The main events of the 'Pohang International Fireworks Festival' will be held in earnest at the Hyeongsan River Sports Park from June 20 to June 21.
This year, the '2025 Pohang International Fireworks Festival' will be held under the theme of 'Shining Everyday in a Clear Era,' featuring a variety of programs including an international fireworks show, drone light show, citizen parade, light concert, and Light Art Way.
Prior to the main festival, from June 14, the Pohang Canal Light Art Way (from Pohang Canal Pavilion to Flower Tree Plaza) has been displaying 17 light installations and media art. The highlight of the festival, the 'International Fireworks Show,' will take place at 9 p.m. on June 21 at Hyeongsan River Sports Park.
On the first day of the main festival, June 20, the 'Light Concert' featuring singers Enoch and Azuma Aki, as well as the 'Daily Fireworks Show,' will light up the night sea of Hyeongsan River with dazzling lights.
On the second day, June 21, the festival's main program, the 'International Fireworks Show,' will begin with a light parade. This fireworks show will feature participation from two overseas countries, Italy and Canada, presenting spectacular fireworks displays against the backdrop of the POSCO nightscape.
Italy will present under the theme of 'Alchemy of Love,' while Canada will showcase 'The Unchanging Light of the People.'
Following this, the 'Drone Light Show' will feature 1,000 drones illuminating the night sky, delivering a moving message to citizens with the phrase 'Thank you for your day.' Finally, Hanwha will represent Korea in the grand finale.
In particular, this year's festival will focus on enhancing citizen convenience by replacing greetings with video messages and simplifying unnecessary formalities. Additionally, the countdown to the start of the fireworks show will be conducted in a way that allows tourists and citizens to shout together, creating a moment of unity for all participants.
On the main stage that day, 'Light Radio,' hosted by Lee Jihoon, Pohang's public relations ambassador, will offer a special time to share stories from citizens.
On June 20 and June 21, Hyeongsan River Sports Park will host the Mat & Rak 'Pohang Dining,' photo zones, and experience markets, while the Haedo Saeroksaero Street will feature the 'Bulmat Gourmet Road' themed around spicy and flame-grilled dishes, offering a variety of foods to satisfy all five senses.
As part of the festival's related events, 'Posong Carriage' and the 'Korea Barefoot Walking Festival' will be held at Songdo Beach, further enriching the festival with a blend of light and flavor.
Since the main events are held at night, the city is operating a comprehensive situation room in cooperation with related organizations, ensuring a safe festival through real-time safety text alerts, deployment of safety personnel, and on-site broadcasting.
Mayor Lee Kangdeok stated, "As a cultural tourism festival and Pohang's representative event, we will prepare the Pohang International Fireworks Festival meticulously and thoroughly to ensure a successful and safe festival."
