Sejong City has taken emergency measures, including a product recall and contract termination, after lead levels in the 'Bae Sarang' fruit and vegetable juice were found to exceed regulatory limits.

According to the Sejong City Health and Environment Research Institute, a safety inspection of 17 processed food items was conducted on June 17. The inspection revealed that the 'Bae Sarang' product supplied by Solti Maeul Co., Ltd. contained 0.11 mg/kg of lead, exceeding the food safety standard of 0.05 mg/kg.

On June 18, the city immediately ordered an emergency recall of the product and terminated its contract with Solti Maeul Co., Ltd., halting its supply to public meal services. All products delivered to Singsing Market were also recalled, and consumers were advised to stop consumption and return the product to the place of purchase for a refund. Production of the 'Bae Sarang' line has been suspended for one month, and all recalled products will be destroyed. The city also plans to investigate the cause of the excessive lead levels.

A representative from the Health and Environment Research Institute stated, "We plan to conduct hygiene inspections of the company, monitor compliance with administrative measures, and provide additional education to prevent recurrence."
