KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency) has launched an initiative to attract science and technology talent in Silicon Valley, USA.
On June 18 (local time), KOTRA held the "Career Connect Silicon Valley 2025" event in San Jose, USA, jointly with the Consulate General in San Francisco. The event was organized under the theme of global career development for science and technology professionals, aiming to promote the Korean government's talent attraction programs and facilitate exchanges between local big tech companies and outstanding talent.
The event featured a variety of content to address job seekers' questions, including a K-Tech Pass information session, special lectures by HR experts from global big tech companies, and recruitment briefings. The venue gathered a wide range of participants interested in employment and career transitions, including local Korean-American science and technology professionals.
The first part of the event introduced the Korean government's overseas talent attraction support programs, with particular interest in the "K-Tech Pass." This program provides special visas and settlement support for talent in advanced industries such as semiconductors, displays, secondary batteries, and biotechnology.

In the following special lectures, three HR experts from global big tech companies spoke as guest speakers. They shared real-life employment cases and offered practical tips for building competitive careers in the global market.
During the recruitment briefing session, major Korean companies such as Toss and LG Electronics participated directly to introduce their desired talent profiles and recruitment plans. In addition, the Korea Association for Industrial Intelligence gave a presentation on "Trends in Overseas Talent Recruitment in Korea's AI Industry," introducing local science and technology professionals to the rapidly growing capabilities of Korean AI (artificial intelligence) technology and the current job market trends.
A Korean-American scientist who participated in the event said, "Through this event, I strongly felt the need to design my career to enhance global competitiveness," adding, "It was also very helpful to obtain information about employment in Korea, which had previously seemed vague."
Lee Geumha, Head of KOTRA's North America Regional Headquarters, stated, "This event was the first talent attraction briefing session held in North America since the opening of the Overseas Talent Attraction Center, and it became a valuable opportunity for companies and job seekers to interact directly." Lee added, "Going forward, KOTRA will continue to run various programs to attract outstanding global talent, so that talented individuals can take interest in Korean companies and actively pursue employment, thereby strengthening global competitiveness."
