The 'Osan-Dongtan Emergency Response Committee,' organized by residents of Hwaseong and Osan, held a rally on the 19th at Dongtan Lake Park in Hwaseong, officially demanding the withdrawal of the Dongtan logistics center construction plan.

The logistics center for which the committee is demanding cancellation is planned to be built at 1131 Jangji-dong, Hwaseong, with five underground floors and 20 above-ground floors, and a total floor area of 523,957 square meters.

About 200 people attended the rally, including Mayor Lee Kwonjae, Chairman Lee Sangbok, members of the Osan City Council, National Assembly member Cha Jiho, and representatives of the committee.

At the event, Mayor Lee stated, "This logistics center is not just a matter of building a warehouse; it is an issue that will cause significant harm to the daily lives and safety of citizens in Osan and Hwaseong Dongtan." He insisted, "Hwaseong City must immediately withdraw its unilateral development administration that ignores the opinions of residents."

Mayor Lee also criticized Hwaseong City, saying, "Pushing ahead with a super-large logistics center without a clear traffic plan is irresponsible administration," and called for a complete reconsideration of the project.

Hwaseong City pushed back, claiming that Osan City is using the logistics center issue for political purposes. Cho Seunghyun, spokesperson for Hwaseong City, said, "Public officials at Hwaseong City Hall are doing their utmost to find wise solutions for the development of Distribution Site No. 3, always putting citizens first." He added, "We hope Osan City Hall will adopt a cooperative attitude, and we also hope that the mayor of Osan will focus on administration rather than political actions."
