Processing 66 Agenda Items and Concluding the 287th Regular Session
The Daejeon City Council held the 3rd Plenary Session of the 287th Regular Session on June 19, processing 66 agenda items and concluding the 18-day session schedule.
During the plenary session, the council handled 46 ordinance and regulation proposals, 8 consent items, 3 opinion hearings, and 6 settlement items, including the 'Approval of the 2024 Fiscal Year Daejeon City Settlement.'
The council also passed a resolution opposing the relocation of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to Busan, which was proposed by Councilor Jung Myungkook. The resolution argues that the ministry's relocation to Busan would hinder balanced national development and policy continuity, and strongly urges that the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries remain in Sejong City to ensure policy consistency and strengthen the functions of the Chungcheong region.
Additionally, nine councilors?Jung Myungkook, Lee Byungcheol, Lee Jaekyung, Lee Hanyeong, Park Juhwa, Kim Seongwang, Lee Sangrae, Min Kyungbae, and Kim Minsook?were appointed as members of the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts to review the budget and settlements.
The Special Committee on Industrial Complex Development also concluded its official activities by thoroughly examining key issues related to industrial complex development and presenting effective policy alternatives.
During the subsequent five-minute free speech session, Councilor Bang Jinyoung spoke about the need for the prompt completion of the road connecting Oesam and Yuseong Terminal BRT.
Chairman Cho Wonhui stated, "Through this regular session, all council members closely reviewed Daejeon City's fiscal management and proposed various policy alternatives for a sustainable urban foundation," adding, "I urge the executive branch to actively review and implement the policy proposals made by the council members so they can be reflected in city administration."
