Published Four Times a Year
On June 19, the Korea Confucian Culture Promotion Institute launched the digital-based humanities and liberal arts webzine 'Solvium'.
The title 'Solvium' is derived from the institute's complex cultural space 'Larchiveum' (Library + Archive + Museum). It carries the meaning of fostering new beginnings, much like the evergreen vitality of pine trees or the sprouting of new shoots after rain.
Solvium is designed as a platform that delivers humanities content in a more flexible and in-depth manner, based on the identity of Confucian culture while integrating with various contemporary cultures such as film, literature, and art.
In the inaugural issue, Park Jaehee, head of Seokcheonhakdang, former professor at the Korea National University of Arts' School of Traditional Arts, and a former member of the National Assembly's Character Development Advisory Committee, explored the theme of crisis and resilience in life within the Confucian framework.
Film critic Song Seokjoo also examined the process of self-reflection and discovery through various films.
Director Jeong Jaekeun stated in the publisher's note, "As its name suggests, Solvium will become a venue for humanities content that nurtures new ways of thinking and new values."
Starting with this inaugural issue, Solvium will be published four times a year and is accessible to everyone on the institute's website.
