Dankook University Hospital Introduces 'da Vinci Xi' Robotic Surgical System

Expectations for Enhanced Precision and Safety in Cancer Surgery

Dankook University Hospital Introduces 'da Vinci Xi' Robotic Surgical System

On June 19, Dankook University Hospital announced that it has officially begun operating the state-of-the-art robotic surgical system, 'da Vinci Xi.'

The da Vinci Xi is a device equipped with four robotic arms and a high-resolution 3D display, enabling precise minimally invasive surgeries. Its key features include reduced pain, bleeding, and infection risks, as well as minimal scarring and faster recovery times.

After introducing the equipment at the end of last year, Dankook University Hospital established a robotic surgery center and completed preparations for surgery through simulations and rehearsals in collaboration with medical staff from various departments.

On June 16, the hospital successfully performed its first surgery using the da Vinci Xi?a total hysterectomy on a 48-year-old female patient. On the same day, it also carried out an ovarian cystectomy, followed by an adenomyosis surgery on June 18. A cholecystectomy is scheduled for June 23.

Kim Jaeil, the hospital director, stated, "With the introduction of the da Vinci Xi, the precision and safety of cancer surgeries have been enhanced. We will continue to expand its applications to strengthen our role as a medical hub in the central region."

Meanwhile, Dankook University Hospital plans to expand the use of the da Vinci Xi beyond obstetrics and gynecology and general surgery to include urology and otolaryngology as well.
