On June 19, with a heavy rain warning issued for the central region for June 20, Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dongyeon visited the Sinansan Line restoration site, where a collapse accident had occurred in April, to personally inspect the preparations for heavy rainfall.
At the restoration site, Governor Kim presided over an emergency video conference with the mayors and county governors of all 31 cities and counties, using the system installed in the fire command bus, to review summer disaster preparedness.
Governor Kim stated, "Due to the influence of the monsoon front, heavy rainfall is forecast from tomorrow through the weekend. The reason I came to the Sinansan Line collapse site today is to conduct an on-site inspection, as there is a possibility of additional damage here due to rain and to check the response measures."
He continued, "Thanks to the thorough preparations by each city and county and all public officials, there were no casualties from summer natural disasters last year or the year before. I deeply appreciate your hard work, and we must continue to respond well this year as well."
He also noted, "Currently, there are 7,554 construction sites in Gyeonggi Province, with more than 3,000 public and over 4,300 private construction sites. Please thoroughly maintain drainage systems by removing soil and fallen leaves in preparation for heavy rainfall."

He added, "Gyeonggi Province operates on the principle that 'over-preparation is better than under-preparation' when it comes to disaster response, even to the extent that our response could be considered excessive. Both the province and the cities and counties are boldly investing fiscal resources and taking preemptive measures together."
Furthermore, he said, "So far, we have concentrated disaster management funds, investing a total of 200 billion won to improve hazardous facilities such as underpasses, semi-basement residences, riversides, and landslide-prone areas. For the first time in the country, we are institutionalizing the 'Daily Life Recovery Support Fund' and 'Special Support Zones.' We plan to revise the ordinance this month with the cooperation of the provincial council to support not only the safety and lives of residents but also their recovery in the event of a major disaster."
He also shared, "Another piece of good news is that the ground-penetrating radar survey support project for cities and counties is proceeding without delay. We have secured national funding, and the province will immediately implement the survey project through the supplementary budget in June. This will allow us to detect and prevent potential accidents in advance at sites prone to subsidence and underground construction."
Governor Kim visited the Sinansan Line collapse site for the third time on this day, following two previous visits at the time of the collapse accident in April.
Meanwhile, in preparation for summer heavy rains, typhoons, and other natural disasters, Gyeonggi Province has established the 'Emergency Response' stage within the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters and prepared the '2025 Comprehensive Summer Disaster Countermeasures,' which includes building a disaster monitoring system using the Gyeonggi Province 360° Smart Video Center.
