NubeeLab Appoints Byunghoon Kang, Former Toss Payments CEO, as New CTO
Accelerating Advancement of AI Food Scanner Technology... Leading the Food Tech Market
Artificial intelligence (AI) company NubeeLab announced on June 19, 2025, that it has recently appointed Byunghoon Kang, former CEO of Toss Payments, as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
CTO Kang is an expert with over 20 years of experience in development. He previously worked at Naver and Riot Games Korea, served as Tech Lead at Viva Republica (Toss), and held the positions of CTO and CEO at Toss Payments. Toss Payments was established after acquiring the electronic payment business unit of LG Uplus and, within just two years of its launch, rose to the top position in the payment gateway (PG) industry.
NubeeLab is a leading vertical AI company in the food tech sector, specializing in customized AI services for specific fields. It uses AI vision technology to analyze food types and consumption rates, enabling improvements in eating habits, reduction of food waste, and increased efficiency in meal service operations.
Currently, NubeeLab provides its solutions to over 1,100 daycare centers and kindergartens nationwide, serving more than 35,000 users. Through collaborations with public institutions and food companies such as the Gyeonggi Agro-Fisheries Promotion Agency, Korea Childcare Promotion Institute, and Soonsubon (Baby Bonjuk), the company contributes to fostering healthy eating habits and reducing food waste for people from infancy to adulthood. Recently, NubeeLab has expanded into spaces requiring social care, such as nursing hospitals and special schools, leading the way in digital-based innovation of public meal services and the realization of social value.
In the global market, NubeeLab began supplying solutions to improve meal quality at overseas hospitals last year, starting with a partnership with a public hospital in Singapore. The company is actively collaborating with healthcare institutions in North America, including Canada, and has also signed exclusive contracts with global healthcare companies.
CTO Kang will oversee all AI technology divisions at NubeeLab and plans to lead vertical AI businesses that address real-world problems for industries and customers, such as 'NyamNyam Kids' for infants and toddlers, and 'Tantan School' and 'Ssaksak Money,' which are school and B2B services based on carbon-neutral points. CTO Kang stated, "We will accelerate technological innovation of the AI Food Scanner and achieve the highest level of customer orientation to lead the global food tech market."
