Experience, Recruitment, and Citizen Engagement at the 'Tech Expo'
On June 19, Gwangju City announced that it will host the '2025 Gwangju Future Industry Expo' from June 25 to 28 for four days at the Kimdaejung Convention Center, offering a glimpse into the present and future of the region's leading industries.
This expo, jointly organized and hosted by the city and the Gwangju Tourism Organization and supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, is the largest industrial exhibition in the Honam region, integrating the International Green Car Exhibition, International Root Industry Exhibition, International IoT Home Appliance and Robot Expo, and Drone·UAM Exhibition.
More than 270 innovative companies will operate 570 booths at this exhibition, showcasing the latest technologies in future mobility, robotics, and home appliances. The event is designed to allow general visitors to experience these technologies firsthand.
Hyundai Motor and Kia will present key technologies for building next-generation software-defined factories (SDF) in the 'Technology Tech Pavilion,' including AMR·MPR (logistics mobility robot) technology, customized vehicles (PV5), and models of vertical take-off and landing UAM (future air mobility).
At the 'Future Industry Convergence Forum,' topics such as AI convergence mobility technologies, electric vehicle fire prevention technology, and humanoid robot technology will be discussed, providing opportunities for networking and information exchange with domestic and international experts in advanced fields.
Export consultation sessions will also be held in cooperation with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency. In connection with the 'Gwangju Together JOB Festa,' job opportunities will be provided for job seekers, including youth and women.
A wide array of citizen-participation experience events to promote science culture has also been prepared. The program includes autonomous vehicle test rides, drone soccer, 3D printing experiences, robot cooking demonstrations, and EV vehicle exhibitions, offering content that all citizens can watch and enjoy.
On the final day, June 28, the nation's largest robot competition will be held, and a special lecture titled 'The Fourth Wave: About AI' will be delivered by popular science influencer Heo Seongbeom.
In addition, various prize draws at company booths, discounted goods at the 'Visit Gwangju Year' promotional booth, and citizen-participation booths are expected to make this an exhibition that both industry professionals and the general public can enjoy together.
Choi Taejo, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Industry Office, stated, "This expo will go beyond a simple industrial exhibition and become an opportunity to directly experience the potential of future industries and the competitiveness of regional industries," adding, "We will make it a participatory technology festival where citizens and the industrial sector come together."
Meanwhile, on the opening day, June 25, the event will be open until 8 p.m., and a shuttle bus will operate for manufacturing workers in Gwangju's industrial complexes. General admission is free from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
