Lee Seunggun: "We Work Without Barriers Between Departments"
Deduction Content Series "Undercover Silo" Premieres on the 19th
Viva Republica, the operator of Toss, announced on June 19 that it has launched an official YouTube channel called "Toss Challengers" for job applicants.
Toss Challengers is a channel that shares Toss's working methods and organizational culture with the public, based on the challenges Toss has faced and the solutions it has implemented.
Lee Seunggun, CEO of Toss, said in the channel's teaser video, "Toss is a place where independent organizations, called silos, can work like startups without central control," adding, "Through this channel, I will share Toss's working style and culture as honestly as possible."
The company explained that it created the channel to provide more genuine information to applicants considering joining Toss.
The channel's name was inspired by Toss's welcome gift for new hires, "Toss for New Challengers." It reflects Toss's perspective of viewing new colleagues as "challengers who will embark on the journey of challenge together."
The first content series, "Undercover Silo," features six external participants who become Toss silo members and work to solve problems through deduction.
Participants with practical startup experience analyze problems and derive solutions from their own perspectives, providing an intuitive look at Toss's decision-making structure and working style.
"Undercover Silo" consists of nine episodes and will be released every Thursday at 5 p.m. on the Toss Challengers channel starting today.
The cast includes six people: developer YouTuber Jokoding, who has 663,000 subscribers; Choi Hyungbin, former youngest product owner at Toss and current KAIST student; Shin Juhye, growth marketer at Selfish Club; Jung Wonhee, former lead developer at Gangnam Unni; Kim Eunhee, user experience (UX) researcher at Rapolabs; and Yoo Minseung, former chief operating officer (COO) at Business Canvas.
Meanwhile, Toss is conducting large-scale recruitment again this year, following last year. CEO Lee recently emphasized the importance of hiring in the machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) fields in an internal announcement and encouraged team members to recommend external talent.
