Goyang Special City (Mayor Lee Donghwan) announced on the 19th that, in a public opinion survey on major policies conducted to mark the third anniversary of the 8th popularly elected administration, 77.4% of respondents answered that "Goyang City is doing a good job."

This figure represents a 4.5 percentage point increase compared to the previous year.

Since the launch of the 8th administration, positive evaluations of Goyang Special City's municipal administration have shown a continuous upward trend for two consecutive years: 61.8% in 2023, 72.9% in 2024, and 77.4% in 2025. This indicates that citizens' positive perceptions of the administration are gradually increasing.

In evaluations by policy area, the number of "satisfied" responses greatly exceeded those of "dissatisfied." In particular, high satisfaction rates of over 70% were recorded in areas closely related to citizens' daily lives: culture, sports, and tourism (72.7%), welfare (72.2%), and transportation (71.2%).

The main reasons cited for positive evaluations included the implementation of policies that are helpful in daily life (25.6%), satisfaction with the direction of policies (20.0%), and the fast pace of project execution (18.9%). This analysis suggests that the city has gained trust not only by formulating policies but also through their effective and speedy implementation.

Residential satisfaction was also high at 84.3%. The main contributing factors were the residential environment (24.3%), green spaces (21.7%), and culture and arts (14.9%).

As for the top priority task for Goyang Special City as perceived by citizens, "designation as an economic free zone and attracting businesses" ranked highest at 32.5%. This was followed by creating a child-friendly environment (23.7%), strengthening welfare support (22.8%), establishing a transportation hub network (20.3%), and building an AI-based smart city (17.1%).

This suggests that citizens are highly interested in and have high expectations for the expansion of the city's economic and industrial foundations, which will determine the future of the city, beyond merely improving short-term living conveniences.

Mayor Lee Donghwan of Goyang Special City stated, "The past three years have been a time when we tried to respond with actions rather than words. We have focused on changes that citizens can truly feel, such as building transportation networks to usher in the '30-minute metropolitan era,' restoring rivers and green spaces, introducing smart technologies to enhance citizen convenience, establishing advanced industry bases like the Venture Business Promotion District and Ilsan Technovalley, and strengthening the cultural platform by attracting large-scale performances."

He added, "I see this survey as a sign that citizens are truly experiencing these changes, and as encouragement to steadfastly complete the remaining year. We will steadily fulfill our major promises to citizens, including our top pledge of designating an economic free zone."

This survey was conducted by the professional polling agency Kookmin Research & Consulting Group, which surveyed 1,027 Goyang citizens from May 17 to 25 through both face-to-face interviews (70.8%) and mobile web surveys (29.2%). The margin of error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
