"They Were Like Heroes": Starbucks Employees Rush with Fire Extinguishers to Vehicle Fire On the morning of the 16th, when a vehicle caught fire on a road in Jeju City, nearby Starbucks employees took action to extinguish the fire. Provided by Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters

According to the Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters on June 18, a fire broke out in an SUV traveling along Yeonbuk-ro in Jeju City at around 8:50 a.m. on the 16th. The driver, identified as A, was returning home after dropping off their child at school when they noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment. A immediately turned off the ignition and got out of the car. The fire began to spread rapidly, creating a crisis situation where it seemed the vehicle could explode at any moment.

A immediately called 119. In the meantime, two young men and women dressed as cafe employees ran over with fire extinguishers and began putting out the flames. They also took safety measures, such as directing traffic to ensure that vehicles could pass safely on the busy road during rush hour. Shortly afterward, firefighters arrived at the scene, and the fire was extinguished without any casualties about 10 minutes after the report was received.

The two individuals who initially suppressed the vehicle fire were reportedly employees of a nearby Starbucks. A wrote on the "Let's Compliment" board of the Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters, "The fire was spreading so quickly that it felt like the car could explode at any moment, and I was terrified. I couldn't even approach my car out of fear, but seeing these people run toward the flames without hesitation made me feel incredibly grateful?they were like heroes to me."

A also expressed gratitude to the firefighters who worked hard to put out the fire. A said, "How many times in life do you actually receive help from firefighters or police? I never imagined I would be the one needing their help. I bow my head in deep gratitude to the firefighters who bravely rush into danger, not knowing when something might explode."

A then requested the fire chief to present letters of appreciation and commendations to the two cafe employees and the firefighters who responded to the scene.
