Hampyeong-gun, South Jeolla Province, announced on the 18th that 14 trainee households from the Return-to-Farming and Return-to-Village Residency Support Center donated 200 kilograms of onions they cultivated themselves to the School-myeon Community Service Center.

The onions were grown by the trainees as part of the hands-on training program at the Hampyeong-gun Residency Support Center. These are the first crops harvested by prospective farmers who have relocated from the city and are preparing to settle in rural areas through return-to-farming or return-to-village initiatives.

Before fully settling in the rural community, the trainees expressed their gratitude to the local community through sharing, took time to communicate and interact with local residents, and strengthened their sense of community by living together as neighbors. In particular, this act of sharing is being positively recognized as an example of return-to-farming and return-to-village participants becoming integrated members of the community.

One trainee said, "I feel a great sense of fulfillment being able to share the first crops I harvested through my own efforts with local seniors," and added, "I hope this act of sharing will serve as a starting point for living together as a member of the Hampyeong community."

Governor Lee Sangik stated, "The efforts of the trainees to blend in with the local community are setting a good example for return-to-farming and return-to-village initiatives," and added, "We will continue to develop various policies to help returnees grow and prosper in harmony with the local community."

Meanwhile, the Hampyeong Return-to-Farming and Return-to-Village Residency Support Center is a customized educational facility that allows city residents hoping to return to farming or rural life to stay for a certain period, learn basic farming skills, and integrate with the local community.

The county supports successful settlement for returnees through practice-oriented training, field trips to advanced agricultural sites, and various exchange programs with local residents.
