According to the report, Meta and EssilorLuxottica are planning to release AI-powered smart glasses under the Prada and Oakley brands. EssilorLuxottica, which owns Ray-Ban and Oakley, has been collaborating with Meta since 2021 to introduce Ray-Ban-branded smart glasses equipped with cameras and speakers.
Meta announced on social media the previous day that it had launched an "Oakley | Meta" Instagram account, teasing that "the next evolution arrives on June 20."
The Oakley-Meta smart glasses are expected to feature technology similar to the second-generation Ray-Ban-Meta smart glasses released in 2023. CNBC evaluated the addition of the Prada brand as Meta's first step toward integrating wearable devices with more fashion brands.
