Sejong University Wins Minister of Environment Award at Energy and Eco-friendly Awards

Recognized for Excellence in Eco-friendly Technology and Energy Efficiency

Sejong University announced on June 19 that it received the Minister of Environment Award at the 9th Korea Energy Efficiency and Eco-friendly Awards, hosted by Energy Economy News and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Environment.

The Korea Energy Efficiency and Eco-friendly Awards are prestigious honors presented to private companies and educational institutions that have achieved outstanding results in environmental fields such as carbon neutrality, energy conservation, resource circulation, and air quality improvement.

Established in 2003 as Korea's first specialized educational institution for climate change response, the Sejong University Graduate School of Climate Specialization has played a pivotal role in implementing climate policies and nurturing professionals by carrying out various government projects based on programs designated by the Ministry of Environment.

Sejong University operates integrated master's and doctoral programs, providing practical, hands-on education in a variety of eco-friendly policy areas, including climate and atmospheric environment statistics, water treatment technology policy, the expansion of hydrogen and electric vehicle adoption, and the Carbon Point System.

Additionally, the university is preparing to become a global institution for climate technology professionals by strengthening its educational system in connection with the UN SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), expanding joint degree programs and collaborative research with overseas universities and international organizations, and advancing climate prediction technologies using AI and big data.

A Sejong University representative stated, "This award is an official recognition of Sejong University's outstanding achievements over the past 20 years in convergence technology education and research for climate change response and the realization of a sustainable, eco-friendly society."
