Agreement Signed with Sejong Branch of the National Hanwoo Association and Other Organizations
Sejong City has decided to join forces to strengthen the competitiveness of the local livestock industry and to establish a Hanwoo beef brand, building a cooperative system for these goals.
According to Sejong City on June 18, the city held the "Sejong Hanwoo Brand Fostering and Win-Win Cooperation Agreement Ceremony." Seven organizations and groups participated in the ceremony, including the Sejong City Branch of the National Hanwoo Association, Sejong Gongju Livestock Cooperative, Sejong Seobu Agricultural Cooperative, Mujigae Agricultural Corporation, Livestock Environment Management Institute, and the Sejong City Branch of the Korea Women Consumers Federation.
The agreement was signed to reduce distribution costs through connections among producers, distributors, and consumers, and to expand the local consumption base for Sejong Hanwoo, of which about 7,400 heads are shipped annually.
Under the agreement, the city will be responsible for establishing brand policies and providing administrative support, while each organization will take on roles such as quality control, securing distribution channels, and promoting the brand to consumers.
With this agreement as a starting point, the city plans to actively pursue follow-up projects such as developing packaging for the Sejong Hanwoo Daewang brand, securing distribution networks, and establishing marketing strategies.
Mayor Choi Minho stated, "I am very pleased that we have established a cooperative foundation for Sejong Hanwoo Daewang to achieve the level of quality and distribution system worthy of its brand name," and added, "Let us all work together so that Sejong Hanwoo Daewang can become a premium Hanwoo brand."
