Daegu Catholic University hosted the "2nd Gyeongsangbuk-do Startup Club Youth Startup Hackathon Competition" over two days and one night, starting on June 13.
Daegu Catholic University is hosting the "2nd Gyeongsangbuk-do Startup Club Youth Startup Hackathon Competition" and is taking a commemorative photo.
The term "hackathon" is a compound of "hacking" and "marathon" and refers to an idea competition in which teams are formed to solve problems within a limited time frame.
This event was part of the "Gyeongbuk Region Startup Experience Center" project, organized by the Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education Research Institute, and aimed to foster creativity, problem-solving skills, and entrepreneurial spirit among youth.
The competition saw the participation of around 90 students from nine middle schools, including Gyeongsan Girls' Middle School, Munseong Middle School, and Shinsang Middle School, as well as four high schools, including Gyeongbuk Science High School and Gyeongsan Girls' High School, who engaged in a heated contest of ideas to solve local issues.
The event began with a special lecture on "Idea Discovery and Business Plan Writing Methods," followed by close team-by-team mentoring from a group of 18 mentors composed of professors from Daegu Catholic University's Department of Entrepreneurship and Management and graduate students from the Graduate School of Entrepreneurship.
Kim Yongpil, Dean of Justino Liberal Arts College, said, "We will continue to provide opportunities for youth to develop their entrepreneurial capabilities through our university's Startup Experience Center."
Daegu Catholic University has been consistently running entrepreneurship education programs for youth and plans to expand this competition to a national level in the future.
