Gwangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 18th that it held a meeting with local companies involved in apartment construction at Sunam Hall in City Hall on the 17th, as part of its efforts to realize the municipal administration goal of the 8th popularly elected government: "a dynamic economic city of new leap."

This meeting was organized with the aim of revitalizing the local economy and creating a mutually beneficial construction ecosystem. A total of about 70 participants attended, including representatives from seven construction companies currently working on apartment complexes in the region ? Dongwon Development, Jungheung Construction, Kyungnam Enterprise, Hyundai Engineering, Jeil Construction, Hyundai Development Company, and Hyosung Heavy Industries ? as well as 25 local specialized companies.
The event began with a report on the participation performance of local companies and continued in a free discussion format on the themes of sustainable job creation and local economic revitalization.
In particular, 15 local companies gave direct presentations to outsourcing and procurement managers from the construction companies' headquarters, actively promoting their expertise and construction capabilities. Through this, they sought to explore practical opportunities for cooperation and to lay the groundwork for expanding their networks in the future.
During the event, Gwangju City expressed its understanding of the real challenges faced by local construction companies, including economic downturn, rising raw material prices, and job insecurity. The city stated that it is actively considering institutional measures to expand opportunities for local companies to participate in apartment construction projects. In addition, the city requested cooperation from the construction companies to ensure that local firms are given substantive opportunities when participating in bidding.
Mayor Bang Sehwan said, "Coexistence with local companies is a core pillar of Gwangju City's sustainable development," and added, "We will continue to build systems that enable the public and private sectors to work together to revitalize the local economy and strengthen corporate competitiveness."
Meanwhile, the city plans to further accelerate the realization of an economic city where citizens and companies grow together by fostering a construction ecosystem centered on the local community and strengthening collaborative networks among businesses. In addition, despite the complex challenges of economic stagnation, high prices, and job insecurity in the region, the city intends to continuously expand opportunities for local companies to participate in the apartment construction sector.
