After Losing Acting Roles, Chinese Actor Xu Yenting Takes on 'Hiking Companion' Part-Time Job
Offers Services Such as Carrying Bags and Providing Massages
Charges 130,000 Won During the Day, 150,000 Won at Night
Chinese actor Xu Yenting, who once gained fame as the lead in youth dramas, has recently drawn attention after revealing that he is working part-time as a hiking companion to make a living.
On June 16, Chinese entertainment media outlet Sohu reported that Xu Yenting, an actor from Northeast China, is currently working a part-time job providing 'hiking companion services' on Mount Taishan.
Xu Yenting told the media, "This year, it has been difficult to find acting roles, so I started doing this job." He became known to the public for his lead role as Wang Ho in the youth drama "Northeast Transfer Student," but recently, his opportunities as an actor have significantly decreased. He explained that he began the part-time job because, "Realistically, I had to find another source of income."
While hiking, Xu Yenting offers services such as carrying customers' bags, providing free bottled water and fruit, telling jokes to help relieve fatigue during the hike, and even giving leg massages. The fee is 699 yuan (approximately 130,000 won) during the day and 799 yuan (approximately 150,000 won) at night.
He said, "This part-time job has given me a more positive outlook on life," and added, "If I return to acting someday, I believe I will be able to express life more deeply than other actors."
Sohu commented on his situation, saying, "His journey reminds us of the struggles and efforts behind the profession of being a celebrity," and added, "His courage and perseverance in not giving up and finding a new path even when there is no work is an inspiration to many people."
Local netizens who heard Xu Yenting's story responded with comments such as, "He is a good actor, so why can't he get roles?" "699 yuan for a trip up Mount Taishan isn't expensive," "I look forward to seeing him act again," and "His hardworking attitude is touching."
