The Chungbuk Line high-speed track construction project, commissioned by the National Railroad Authority as a turnkey project, aims to straighten and upgrade to high-speed the 85.5 km section between Cheongju Airport and Bongyang-eup in Jecheon, Chungbuk. Once the project is completed, train travel time from Seoul and the greater metropolitan area to northern Chungbuk is expected to be significantly reduced.

This project, with a total investment of 1.9 trillion won, targets completion in 2031 and is divided into five sections. HJ Heavy Industries is responsible for Section 3, which covers a total length of 15.05 km from Bongbang-dong in Chungju to Sancheok-myeon in Chungju, Chungbuk. The company will construct earthworks, seven bridges, and three tunnels in this section. The contract amount is 429.8 billion won, and HJ Heavy Industries holds a 41% stake in the consortium.

With this contract, HJ Heavy Industries has demonstrated its longstanding experience and advanced construction technology in the domestic railway infrastructure sector. The company has consistently participated in major national railway network projects, including the Gyeongbu High-Speed Railway, the Wonju-Gangneung High-Speed Railway, the Seongnam-Yeoju double-track railway, and the Ulsan-Pohang double-track railway. More recently, it has won major railway projects such as the GTX-A Samsung-Dongtan, GTX-B Yongsan-Sangbong, Chuncheon-Sokcho, Gwanggyo-Homaesil, and Indeokwon-Dongtan lines.

In addition to railway construction, HJ Heavy Industries possesses specialized capabilities in public infrastructure projects such as airports, ports, and roads. Last year, the company secured large-scale projects including the Saemangeum International Airport, ranking third in the public construction market in terms of performance.

A representative from HJ Heavy Industries stated, "Winning the Chungbuk Line high-speed project is the result of our extensive railway construction experience and innovative technology," adding, "We will continue to actively contribute to the development of national transportation networks and balanced regional growth."
