Hyundai Construction announced on June 18 that it has published a book titled "Apgujeong Hyundai: From Hyundai to an Era," which covers the history and records of the Apgujeong Hyundai Apartments.
This book commemorates the 50th anniversary since construction began in 1975. It was prepared to convey a variety of meanings through interviews with residents, the construction company, and experts. The introduction features a photo essay by writer Choi Yongjun, and the book includes interviews with a family that has lived there for three generations and residents who have lived there for over 40 years. Essays by architect Yoo Hyunjun, a professor at Hongik University, professor Mo Jongrin of Yonsei University, and professor Kim Youngmin of the University of Seoul are also included.
The book cover is designed to resemble the texture of concrete, and the inside features apartment photos in postcard format. Hyundai Construction stated, "This is a complex cultural archive that captures the history of Apgujeong Hyundai Apartments and the evolution of the city and residential life," adding, "With pride in building not just an apartment as a simple space but as a residential heritage, we will continue to bring together our capabilities to create outstanding residential works."
