In particular, the National Credit Union Federation plans to support the establishment of a producer cooperative composed of buckwheat producers as members to revitalize the Jeju buckwheat industry, and will provide multifaceted support for value-added business activities. The organization also intends to closely cooperate with Jeju Province to develop ways for the Credit Union Jeju Training Center, which opened in March this year, to contribute to the local economy.
Jeju Province will actively cooperate in implementing the agreement through administrative support and plans to encourage the participation of the National Credit Union Federation and the Promotion Agency in major provincial initiatives such as the Hometown Love Donation Program and Learncation.
The Promotion Agency pledged its best efforts to provide educational support for the establishment of the buckwheat producer cooperative and to strengthen its management capabilities, thereby laying a sustainable foundation for the cooperative.
Kim Yunsik, Chairman of the National Credit Union Federation of Korea, stated, "As a financial cooperative rooted in the local community, the National Credit Union Federation is taking the lead in fostering local industries and revitalizing the economy. This agreement is a representative example of fulfilling our mission and social responsibility, and we will do our utmost to enhance the added value of the Jeju buckwheat industry and invigorate the local economy of Jeju."
