A Venue for Solidarity
Gathering Strength for Regional Coexistence
Three cities and counties, home to the beautiful Hallyeohaesang, have opened a new chapter of mutual growth and solidarity.
On June 18, it was announced that the 1st Sacheon Namhae Hadong Hanmaeum Community Sports Festival was successfully held at the Samcheonpo Sports Complex, hosted by the Sacheon Sports Council, with about 300 community sports enthusiasts from the three cities and counties participating.
This event was the first joint project of the Sacheon-Namhae-Hadong Administrative Council, which was launched in November of last year to address common issues through interregional solidarity and cooperation, and to seek a path toward mutual development. It is significant in that it set a practical milestone for future policy implementation and the expansion of exchanges in sports, culture, and tourism.
In line with the event's purpose of prioritizing cooperation over competition and friendship over rivalry, the festival featured five sports: archery, badminton, jokgu, table tennis, and tennis. The community sports enthusiasts from the three cities and counties further elevated the value of the event by focusing on communication, consideration, mutual support, and encouragement rather than on winning or losing.
Park Dongsik, Mayor of Sacheon, emphasized in his opening address, "Let us create a path of mutual prosperity by joining forces not only in community sports but also in various fields such as culture, tourism, and industry. I believe today's event will be the first step toward that goal."
