Mexican President Expects to Expand Cooperation with Korea in Advanced Technology Sectors
President Lee Jaemyung, who is visiting Kananaskis, Canada to attend the Group of Seven (G7) Summit, held a summit meeting with President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo of Mexico on the morning of the 17th (local time).
According to the Office of the President, President Lee recalled that Mexico was the first country in Latin America to establish a strategic partnership with Korea and is Korea's largest trading partner in the region. He proposed that both countries work together to further strengthen bilateral relations, including economic cooperation. In response, President Sheinbaum highly praised the active investment of Korean companies in Mexico and expressed her anticipation for expanding cooperation with Korea in advanced technology sectors and other areas.
President Lee then invited President Sheinbaum to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit, which will be held in Gyeongju later this year. President Sheinbaum expressed her gratitude for the invitation and wished for the successful hosting of the APEC Summit. The two leaders agreed to continue strengthening cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral levels based on the strategic partnership between the two countries.
