From June 18 to 20 Across Copenhagen
Over 400 Brands Turn the City into a Showroom
Free Admission, Attracting Around 45,000 Visitors
The largest design festival in Northern Europe, '3daysofdesign,' held every June in Copenhagen, Denmark, is finally set to open. Since its inception in 2013, the event has been attracting increasing attention from people in more and more countries each year. This is not because famous brands participate en masse or because the event is held on a large scale. What sets it apart from other events is that design enthusiasts who are truly passionate about design gather to share stories behind the designs in person, creating deeper connections with one another.

'KEEP IT REAL'
This is the slogan that 3daysofdesign has chosen for this year. The slogan emphasizes that it is more important than ever to respect and embrace each individual's perspective on authenticity. It conveys the message that, amid various technologies including artificial intelligence (AI), countless choices, superficiality, and social expectations, people must strive to live authentically and creatively while maintaining their individuality. It also signifies the freedom to challenge existing frameworks and stereotypes.
Signe Byrdal Terenziani, CEO of 3daysofdesign, explained, "'KEEP IT REAL' is a theme that reflects a deep desire for a more considerate, inclusive, and conscious world, respecting individual expression and experience," adding, "It is a call to action to realize your own vision truthfully, and a festival that celebrates those who are one of a kind in the world."
'3 Days of Design' presents a new visual image each year along with a new theme. This year, the work was undertaken by Swedish graphic artist Andreas Samuelson. The concept consists of a striking image combining curved margins, organic shapes, and contrasting colors. It represents an intangible inner landscape of the soul, open to interpretation. 3 Days of Design website

This year's festival, held throughout Copenhagen from June 18 to 20, divides the city into eight zones, each with its own concept. Through exhibitions and events that blend Copenhagen's cultural heritage with the present and future, visitors are invited to experience the city in new ways. The eight zones are themed around Change, Craftsmanship & Materials, Atmosphere, Community, Perspective, Authenticity, Insight, and Connection, with spaces designed according to each concept.
For example, Nordhavn, one of the eight zones, is being developed with the goal of becoming a '5-minute city.' Reflecting this characteristic, the area is designed to highlight the importance of community based on sustainable and walkable neighborhoods. The Rosengaard area, once the walled center of the old city, inspires visitors to break free from social frameworks and pursue their own truth.
Visitors can check in advance which companies are participating in each of the eight zones. As in previous years, around 400 brands are expected to participate. Well-known Nordic companies such as Fritz Hansen, Bang & Olufsen, Iittala, Royal Copenhagen, and HAY, as well as a variety of brands from countries including Japan and the United Kingdom, will be taking part. The number of visitors last year was estimated at around 45,000. There is no separate admission fee.
Some point out that the event is different from traditional festivals not only because it discusses the design industry, but also because it brings together diverse people with different perspectives to create spaces together. 3daysofdesign is rapidly emerging as a new platform for inspiration. Jakob Owen Molba, CEO of a Danish startup, said, "Although the companies in the design industry are competitors, when they meet at 3daysofdesign, they have serious discussions about sustainability with a shared purpose," adding, "I think this is what makes the event special."
