Suncheon City Conducts Staff Capacity Building Training on Generative AI Utilization

Suncheon City in South Jeolla Province, led by Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu, announced on the 17th that it will conduct a "Generative AI Utilization Staff Capacity Building Training" over a five-day period until the 20th, adopting the "Artificial Intelligence (AI) System" that the Lee Jaemyung administration plans to introduce in earnest.

The training is being promoted in connection with the "Jeonnam ICT Innovation Square Expansion Project" led by the Ministry of Science and ICT. The city plans to operate a special training course for public officials, aiming to foster practical, work-oriented talent using generative AI.

This training program is led by a team of expert instructors from the Korea IT Service Industry Association and focuses primarily on hands-on practice. The curriculum includes: ▲ public data analysis using generative AI, ▲ planning and developing chatbots that reflect local characteristics, and ▲ developing department- or task-specific chatbots.

The city expects that by integrating the latest AI technologies into administrative work through this training, it will enhance administrative efficiency and provide better services to citizens. Additionally, to maximize the effectiveness of the training and promote a culture of AI utilization, the city plans to hold a "Generative AI Competition" again this year, following last year's event.

A city official stated, "Utilizing generative AI is no longer an option but an essential competency, and it is a basic qualification that public officials must possess." The official added, "We have initiated this training to cultivate our staff's abilities in line with the era of digital transformation."
