According to Seo-gu, the Barrier-Free City Citizen Participation Group is a resident organization that plays a field-oriented role by directly identifying inconveniences in daily life and proposing solutions for improvement. The group consists of 15 residents representing various ages and social backgrounds.
After completing basic training related to their activities on this day, the members of the Citizen Participation Group will conduct field surveys, policy proposals, and monitoring for the barrier-free city over the next two years.
Meanwhile, Seo-gu has been pursuing 31 detailed projects centered on six major goals to create a convenient and safe barrier-free city for everyone. Since enacting the relevant ordinance in 2022, these goals have included expanding barrier-free facilities in both public and private sectors, guaranteeing mobility rights for transportation-vulnerable individuals, supporting the installation of convenience facilities for housing-vulnerable residents, improving public awareness and fostering a supportive social atmosphere, and strengthening the expertise of related professionals.
Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, "A barrier-free city is a fundamental value that makes everyday life convenient and safe for everyone. Together with the Citizen Participation Group, we will make greater efforts to identify and improve inconveniences in daily life, thereby building a barrier-free Seo-gu."
