Actor Jung Gaeun (47), who previously revealed she was struggling financially after her divorce, has passed a taxi driver interview and announced a fresh start.

On June 16, Jung Gaeun uploaded a video on her YouTube channel documenting her preparation process for a part-time taxi driver interview. While balancing childcare and her broadcasting career, she decided to challenge herself by taking on taxi driving work during her spare time.

However, Jung Gaeun was rejected by most taxi companies, either because they did not hire female drivers or because part-time work was not possible. Eventually, she managed to find a company that allowed part-time employment and went for an interview.

During the interview, a company representative explained, "With part-time work, you can freely adjust your working days and hours. You can work three or four days a week, and you can leave after working as much as you are able to."

The representative also explained the wage system, saying, "There is no daily quota, and if drivers pay the full amount shown on the meter to the company, they receive a set monthly salary. If they perform well, there is an incentive structure." He further clarified, "There is no such thing as a daily quota. You simply earn as much as you can, hand over that amount to the company, and receive your monthly salary. Just take the set monthly salary."

Afterwards, Jung Gaeun passed the interview and even signed up for driver’s insurance, preparing in earnest for her new role. The representative welcomed her, saying, "Until now, the company has never hired a woman. According to company policy, we have not accepted female applicants. However, since you are joining us this time, it is an honor for us as well. You will be the first female employee since 1965."

Jung Gaeun, who debuted as a model in 1997, became known to the public through tvN's 'Rollercoaster.' She married a businessman in 2016 and had one daughter, but divorced in 2017. Her ex-husband was sued on charges of embezzling 13.2 billion won in investment funds under Jung Gaeun's name and fleeing by 2018. Last year, Jung Gaeun made headlines when she confessed that she was experiencing financial difficulties.
