Gwangju City is entering a "time of soaring" to seize the "100-day golden time" at the beginning of the Lee Jaemyung administration.

On June 17, Gwangju City held a plaque unveiling ceremony for the "Presidential Election Pledge Seoul Situation Room" at its External Cooperation Headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, officially launching efforts to reflect local issues in the national agenda of the Lee Jaemyung administration. The ceremony was attended by Mayor Kang Kijeong, Assembly members Jeong Junho, Jeon Jinsuk, and Park Gyuntaek, as well as Kim Hyunseong, CEO of the Gwangju Economic Promotion Win-Win Job Foundation.

The operation of the "Presidential Election Pledge Seoul Situation Room" aims to proactively incorporate key regional issues, including Gwangju's presidential election pledges, into the national agenda by making use of the "100-day golden time" at the start of the Lee Jaemyung administration.

In particular, on June 16, the National Policy Planning Committee, which serves as the transition committee for the Lee Jaemyung administration, was launched and began preparing national policy tasks. In response, Gwangju City has strategically reorganized its organization to align with these developments.

The "Presidential Election Pledge Seoul Situation Room" will serve as a strategic base to ensure that major regional issues, including the seven key Gwangju pledges, five district-level pledges, and thirty-two neighborhood-level pledges adopted during the 21st presidential election, are reflected in national policy tasks.

The seven key pledges are: the establishment of a national AI pilot city; the creation of a combined civil-military gateway airport in the southwest region; the development of a leading mobility city in Korea; the declaration of the Asia Culture Centered City 3.0 era; the Yongsangang and Gwangjucheon waterfront revitalization project; the construction of national ultra-high magnetic field research infrastructure; and the creation of a southwest region megacity.

The Seoul Situation Room will also serve as a key external cooperation channel for communication with the National Policy Planning Committee, central government, and the National Assembly. In particular, during the intensive 100-day activity period, the city will focus on practical achievements such as responding to the incorporation of local issues into national policy tasks and holding real-time policy consultations with political parties and the government.

The city plans to secure the new administration's golden time through strategic organizational management. Led by Mayor Kang Kijeong, who has extensive experience in the National Assembly and central government, directors, public officials, heads and executives of public institutions will collaborate in a task force format to pursue all-around cooperation with the central government and the National Assembly for each policy area.

On June 15, the city held a "Presidential Election Pledge National Policy Task Force Meeting" chaired by Mayor Kang Kijeong, attended by directors and public institution heads, to review strategies for reflecting local issues in the new administration's national agenda. Previously, on June 10, the city held a meeting with all local National Assembly members to discuss responses to the new administration's national policy agenda and key regional issues, making every effort to ensure that President Lee Jaemyung's Gwangju election pledges are incorporated into national policy tasks.

Mayor Kang Kijeong stated, "The first 100 days after the launch of the new administration are a time of soaring that will determine Gwangju's future. The Presidential Election Pledge Seoul Situation Room will serve as a base for cooperation with the National Assembly and government to incorporate Gwangju's future strategies into national policy tasks. We will do our utmost to achieve tangible results so that Gwangju can soar together with the Lee Jaemyung administration."
