Information Session on the Web Content UCI Registration and Management System
for Webtoon and Web Novel Producers and Distributors on June 24

The National Library of Korea will hold an information session on the "Web Content UCI Registration and Management System" at 2 p.m. on June 24, targeting those involved in the production or distribution of webtoons and web novels. UCI refers to a unique identification code assigned to digital content.

This information session has been organized to enhance understanding of the registration and management system so that participants can effectively utilize the UCI system, ahead of the official launch of UCI registration for the webtoon and web novel sectors starting July 22. The session will share the progress of the project and provide detailed guidance on practical matters, from membership registration procedures to methods for displaying the UCI.

As a UCI registration management institution, the library has been assigning UCIs to digitized books since 2010. Since last year, it has expanded its system management to include webtoons and web novels distributed online.

Once the UCI identification system is established for webtoon and web novel content, it can be utilized in various ways, such as facilitating content search and usage, managing copyrights, monitoring illegal distribution, generating accurate statistics, and archiving works on a per-title basis. This is expected to contribute to the development of the webtoon and web novel industry ecosystem.
