On June 16, the Gumi City Council held an inaugural ceremony for the "Gumi City Fiscal Analysis Research Association" in the council's reception room, announcing the official launch of research activities for local fiscal innovation.

The ceremony was attended by Vice Chairman Yang Jino, participating council members of the research association, and officials from the council secretariat, all expressing a strong commitment to regional fiscal innovation.

The newly launched "Gumi City Fiscal Analysis Research Association" is composed of a total of five members, with Councilwoman Choo Eunhee as the representative, and Councilmen Kim Jaewoo, Lee Jiyeon, Lee Sangho, and Shin Yongha. They will conduct in-depth analyses of Gumi City's fiscal status and pursue practical policy research to establish mid- to long-term fiscal stability measures.

Representative Choo Eunhee stated, "We plan to broadly review not only urgent issues such as improving local tax collection rates, reducing arrears, and efficiently executing state and provincial subsidy projects, but also reorganizing projects with low effectiveness or redundancy. We aim to go beyond simple numerical reviews and propose alternatives that can drive genuine fiscal innovation."

The research association plans to conduct detailed analyses of Gumi City's fiscal structure, comparative studies with similar local governments, and expert roundtable discussions to produce objective and actionable policy recommendations. In addition, the association will work to preemptively eliminate budget waste factors and develop fiscal execution models that are highly perceptible to citizens.

A Gumi City Council official commented, "We hope that this council-led research association will serve as a catalyst for enhancing the effectiveness of Gumi City's fiscal policies," adding, "We will actively support the incorporation of research outcomes into future executive policies to ensure they lead to substantive fiscal innovation."
