The First Distribution Agreement Connecting Inland and Island Regions
Expanding Brand Competitiveness and Nationwide Sales Channels Expected
Gyeongbuk Uiseong County is partnering with Jeju Nonghyup Cooperative Corporation (hereafter Jeju Jogong) to expand the nationwide distribution network for local agricultural products. Uiseong County announced on the 17th that it had signed a 'Win-Win Cooperation Business Agreement (MOU) for Expanding Agricultural Product Distribution' with Jeju Jogong at Namwon Nonghyup in Seogwipo, Jeju, on the 16th.
The main focus of this agreement is to secure distribution channels for Uiseong County's agricultural products in the Jeju region and to strengthen brand competitiveness. At the same time, Jeju Jogong will diversify its distribution channels and expand its sales network by linking with Uiseong County’s key APCs (Agricultural Products Distribution Centers) and related infrastructure.
Jeju Jogong is the nation’s largest horticultural cooperative corporation, handling over 300 billion KRW worth of citrus fruits (including tangerines and other citrus varieties) annually. Through its nationwide distribution network, it is actively pursuing the expansion of not only citrus fruits but also other product categories.
Under this agreement, both parties plan to engage in practical cooperation, including: promoting the entry of Uiseong Jin brand fruits into new sales outlets such as large supermarkets in the Jeju region; establishing a joint marketing system; and expanding both online and offline distribution networks. Through this, it is expected that inland production areas and island regions will build a mutually complementary partnership, leading to tangible increases in the income of local farmers.
Kim Jusu, Mayor of Uiseong County, stated, "A new distribution channel has been established that allows fruits carefully produced in Uiseong to reach consumers nationwide via Jeju. We will continue to expand the framework of public-private cooperation to enhance agricultural competitiveness and drive innovation in distribution."
A representative from Jeju Jogong also commented, "By linking with inland agricultural products, we will diversify our existing citrus-centered distribution network and further strengthen our nationwide distribution base."
