Jincheon County Steps Up Investment Attraction Strategy
with 2025 Investment Promotion Briefing Amid Growing Corporate Interest
In recent years, a combination of factors such as the easing of regulations in the Seoul metropolitan area, expansion of logistics networks, and industrial restructuring has increased interest in regional industrial complexes. Amid this trend, Jincheon County in Chungcheongbuk-do is emerging as a new investment hub. In particular, the 'Jincheon Megapolis General Industrial Complex,' which is currently being developed by Jincheon County, is proving its competitiveness as an industrial site, as evidenced by a steady stream of concrete investment inquiries from companies.
To translate this positive momentum into tangible investment attraction results, Jincheon County announced that it will hold the '2025 Jincheon County Investment Promotion Briefing' in Seoul on June 25. This briefing is designed as a strategic event to directly present the strengths of Jincheon’s industrial complexes to promising companies nationwide and to provide essential information needed for moving in, thereby encouraging investment decisions.
Jincheon Megapolis, Emerging as a 'Core Hub' on the Regional Industrial Map
The Jincheon Megapolis Industrial Complex, a key project for Jincheon County, is being developed over an area of 1,460,000 square meters (approximately 442,000 pyeong) in Euntan-ri, Munbaek-myeon, Jincheon County. Above all, this industrial complex boasts exceptional transportation infrastructure, with access to three expressways (Jungbu, Gyeongbu, and Pyeongtaek-Jecheon), three national highways, KTX Osong Station (25 minutes away), Cheongju International Airport (10 minutes), and Pyeongtaek Port (70 minutes). Located within a one-hour living radius of the Seoul metropolitan area, the site enables logistics coverage of the entire country within two hours, offering significant logistics cost savings for businesses. Another advantage is that Jincheon, while highly accessible to the Seoul metropolitan area, is a non-metropolitan region relatively free from total factory volume regulations, making it well-positioned to absorb the relocation and expansion demand from metropolitan companies. With restrictions on new and expanded factory construction in the metropolitan area, companies are increasingly considering alternative sites, and Jincheon is rapidly attracting substantial demand as a result.
A Jincheon Megapolis representative stated, "Jincheon Megapolis is very close to Ochang Science Industrial Complex and downtown Cheongju, making it extremely convenient for urban living infrastructure and workforce recruitment. This has attracted significant interest from companies since the initial subscription phase, and we are currently engaged in concrete investment negotiations with major manufacturing, advanced materials, and logistics companies. Already, a number of large corporations and solid mid-sized companies have completed their subscriptions."
Investment Promotion Briefing: A Strategy to Turn 'Interest' into 'Contracts'
This investment promotion briefing goes beyond simply promoting the industrial complex. It is structured to provide practical information that leads to actual move-ins and investment contracts, including one-on-one customized consultations, presentations by current tenants, introductions to tax and subsidy support systems, and guidance on administrative permit procedures.
A Jincheon County official stated, "This briefing is not a one-off event, but rather the starting point for connecting Jincheon’s industrial complexes to real contracts. We will generate visible investment attraction results through follow-up contacts and on-site responses after the briefing."
The Foundation as an Industrial Hub Is Already in Place
Jincheon County has been able to expand its role beyond simply developing a new industrial complex to becoming an industrial hub because of its already solid industrial base. In fact, Jincheon is home to production facilities of major domestic conglomerates such as CJ CheilJedang, CJ Logistics, and SKC, all of which actively use Jincheon as a core base for logistics and production in the central region.
The successive move-ins of these companies have rapidly elevated the maturity of Jincheon’s industrial infrastructure, creating a virtuous cycle that encourages related small and medium-sized partner companies to move in as well. Based on this, Jincheon County plans to develop a more precise and systematic corporate cluster through Jincheon Megapolis.
Furthermore, Jincheon County is significantly strengthening its administrative support system at each stage before and after move-in to enhance the competitiveness of tenant companies. This includes local investment promotion subsidies, facility investment grants, acquisition and property tax reductions, one-stop services for permits, and the provision of integrated support facilities within the industrial complex.
Jincheon Megapolis is adjacent to LG Energy Solution and EcoPro BM in Cheongju, as well as the electric vehicle battery reuse technology center in Eumseong, making it an optimal location for clustering the supply chains of the semiconductor, secondary battery, and future mobility industries. In particular, it is organically linked in terms of supply and demand with the secondary battery specialized complex in Ochang, Cheongju, and can also create synergy with the semiconductor materials and components cluster.
"Jincheon's Time Is Now"... A Model for Win-Win Growth Between Local Government and Companies
Experts describe Jincheon County’s recent initiatives as "a case where timely response and strategic planning have come together perfectly." The county has successfully turned external conditions, such as metropolitan area regulations, into internal growth momentum, and is meticulously coordinating detailed elements such as site selection, design, and incentives as an Opportunity Development Zone.
From the perspective of balanced regional development, Jincheon is considered to have relatively well-established infrastructure compared to other cities and counties in the Chungcheong region. Residential conditions, educational environment, and well-developed urban infrastructure are also positively influencing the inflow of companies and workers.
An official from Jincheon County Office emphasized, "Companies do not choose a location based solely on the site. Comprehensive factors such as talent acquisition, administrative responsiveness, and living environment all play a role. Jincheon is well prepared in these aspects, and we will showcase this readiness directly through the upcoming investment promotion briefing."
The reason Jincheon Megapolis is attracting attention in the fiercely competitive national industrial complex market goes beyond its size and infrastructure. It lies in the local government’s agile response, long-term vision, and the establishment of practical systems for win-win cooperation with companies.
With this briefing as a turning point, it remains to be seen whether Jincheon can transform itself from a 'peripheral' area to a 'center' on South Korea’s industrial map, and from a simple supplier to a strategic partner. What is certain is that Jincheon's time begins now.
The Jincheon Megapolis Industrial Complex promotional center is located on Nongdari-ro, Munbaek-myeon, Jincheon County, Chungcheongbuk-do.
