Two Font Styles: Keungeulssi and Jageungeulssi Released

Kakao unveiled its dedicated font, "Kakao Geulssi," optimized for digital environments, on June 17. The font is designed to enhance readability and expressiveness on smartphone and PC screens, and it is available for anyone to use free of charge.
"Kakao Geulssi" consists of two font styles: "Kakao Keungeulssi" and "Kakao Jageungeulssi." "Keungeulssi" is intended for titles, offering a strong and clear impression, while "Jageungeulssi" is designed for body text or captions, with adjusted letter spacing to ensure clarity even on small screens.
In particular, the font is designed so that frequently used initial consonant expressions in digital chats, such as "ㅋㅋ" and "ㅇㅇ," are displayed clearly. The size and proportions of initial consonants have been increased and readjusted compared to standard fonts, ensuring clear communication even when only the initial consonant is used.
The visual completeness of text emoticons has also been improved. Common combinations such as ":-D" and "->" are automatically converted into neatly arranged ligatures, making emotional expressions and the use of symbols more natural and intuitive.
This font is distributed under the Open Font License (OFL), allowing free use for both personal and commercial purposes. It is available for free through the Kakao corporate website, Sandoll Cloud, Adobe Fonts, and other cloud font platforms.
Shin Youngsub, BX Design Leader at Kakao, stated, "Kakao Geulssi was created to provide a new reading experience on digital screens," adding, "We will continue to support a rich culture of expression by reflecting evolving communication styles."
