"Don't Worry About Heavy Rainfall"... Changwon Special City Holds 'Focused Meeting on Rainwater Drain Management'

Preventing Flood Damage Through a Sense of Responsibility for Safety
and Efficient Rainwater Drain Management

On June 17, the Changwon Sewerage Center in Changwon Special City, South Gyeongsang Province, held a "Focused Meeting on Rainwater Drain Management" in the main conference room of Seongsan District Office to prepare for heavy rainfall during the summer season.

The meeting was attended by a total of 21 people, including 15 rainwater drain managers from towns and districts and 6 staff members from the Changwon Sewerage Center. The session utilized the "2025 Key Rainwater Drain Management Areas" booklet produced by the Changwon Sewerage Center.


The participants reaffirmed the importance of rainwater drain management in preparation for heavy summer rainfall, shared their practical experiences and challenges, and discussed effective response measures.


In particular, the meeting included detailed discussions on an efficient rainwater drain management plan. A total of 402 personnel (308 monitoring agents from towns and districts and 94 public officials) will be deployed to 95 areas at risk of flooding. These personnel will inspect and clean rainwater drains under normal conditions and promptly address drainage obstacles during periods of heavy rainfall.


Kim Youngcheol, head of the Changwon Sewerage Center, stated, "Through this meeting, we were able to review our rainwater drain management system and identify practical measures to prevent flood damage through citizen participation and cooperation. We will do our utmost to protect the safety of citizens during heavy summer rainfall by working closely with local towns and districts."
