Namwon City in North Jeolla Province is accelerating preparations for the Namwon International Drone Festival.
According to the city on June 17, an inaugural briefing session for the '2025 Namwon International Drone Festival with Robot' was held in the mayor's office at city hall the previous day, marking the official start of preparations.

The briefing session brought together the main organizing department of Namwon City, related departments, and other stakeholders. During the meeting, participants shared the overall direction for the event's operation, the composition of key content, diverse promotional strategies, and programs linked to the local community. They also discussed detailed implementation schedules and the allocation of responsibilities.
The '2025 Namwon International Drone Festival with Robot' will take place over four days from October 16 to 19 at the Namwon Sports Complex and surrounding areas. The event aims to be a festival for all generations, featuring a variety of programs that combine drones and robotics.
Main events will include the DFL International Drone Racing Competition, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Minister's Cup Drone Racing Competition, a citizen-participation pest control drone contest, an industrial exhibition, and an international conference.
This year, the city plans to further strengthen its status as the "birthplace of drone racing" and lay the groundwork for attracting the 2027 Namwon DFL Drone Racing World Cup. The goal is to elevate the festival into a global event that people from around the world can enjoy together.
Mayor Choi Kyungsik stated, "This festival will go beyond a simple technology event by linking with local cultural and tourism resources to enhance the city's brand value, and it will serve as an opportunity to showcase Namwon's vision as a leader in future industries to both domestic and international audiences. I ask for active preparation and cooperation."
