Chonnam National University announced on the 17th that a skin patch developed in its laboratory has received the 'Minister of SMEs and Startups Award' at Korea's largest beauty expo.
Recently, Nanobiosystem Co., Ltd., a faculty startup based at Chonnam National University, won the 'Minister of SMEs and Startups Award' at Korea's largest beauty expo, 'Cosmobeauty Seoul 2025'.
Major domestic distributors such as Daiso, Lotte Homeshopping, Chicor, Olive Young, and Hyundai Department Store participated as judges in this expo, along with the global market research firm Euromonitor and Woman Sense magazine. Through two weeks of on-site evaluation and post-verification, only three award-winning products were selected from among approximately 200 companies. The award for Nanobiosystem is significant as it recognizes both the technological excellence and market potential of Chonnam National University's advanced bio-nanotechnology-based skin regeneration solution.
Nanobiosystem is a faculty startup founded by Professor Kim Jangho (Department of Convergence Biosystem Mechanical Engineering) at Chonnam National University. The company has attracted investments totaling approximately 10 billion KRW from SK Securities and Korea Technology Finance Corporation, and is developing advanced regenerative bio-medical devices and cosmetic products.
The main product behind this award is a functional skin patch that, for the first time in the world, applies nano-pattern technology for tissue regeneration. This product uses semiconductor processes to create a nanostructure similar to healthy skin texture, thereby promoting the healing of acne or wounds. In addition, it is made with medical-grade materials, ensuring safety even for sensitive skin, and has received high marks for its excellent adhesion, waterproofness, and compatibility with makeup.
Debuted to the public for the first time at this expo under the name 'Celloit Nanopatch', the product is currently preparing for entry into overseas markets.
CEO Kim Jangho stated, "We have successfully integrated the world's first nano-regeneration technology, developed at Chonnam National University, into a cosmetic product," adding, "With this national recognition, we will lead the global skin-tech market."
Meanwhile, the product will be released as official Chonnam National University merchandise, making it available for purchase not only by university members but also by the general public.
