On June 17, Incheon International Airport Corporation announced that this arrangement was made to improve the operational efficiency of passenger terminals and enhance passenger convenience during the peak summer season.

Currently, nine airlines operate out of Terminal 2, including Korean Air, Jin Air, Delta Air Lines, Air France, and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. With the addition of Air Busan, a total of ten airlines will operate from Terminal 2. Terminal 1 is home to Asiana Airlines, as well as other foreign airlines and low-cost carriers.

The corporation explained that this measure is intended to rationally adjust the distribution of passenger traffic between the two terminals. Following the completion of the fourth phase of Incheon Airport’s expansion project in December 2024, the annual international passenger handling capacity of Terminal 2 more than doubled, increasing from 23 million to 52 million.

After Air Busan, Scandinavian Airlines, which is scheduled to launch new flights in September, will also be assigned to Terminal 2. Some airlines currently operating from Terminal 1 will also be relocated to Terminal 2 within the year.

The corporation and Air Busan plan to strengthen advance notifications to minimize confusion associated with the relocation. They will send text messages to customers with reservations and include guidance on e-tickets. In addition, they will actively use the website, social networking services (SNS), bulletin boards and digital media within the passenger terminals, as well as public announcements. Staff will be stationed at the departure area to provide guidance.

Lee Hakjae, president of the corporation, stated, "As Air Busan will operate from Terminal 2 starting July 29, we ask that passengers double-check the airline information for each terminal when using Incheon Airport. We will do our utmost to ensure a seamless relocation and advance notification so that passengers experience no inconvenience due to the airline’s move."
