The Walkable City Strategy Meeting is held regularly to clearly establish the direction and strategy of projects and to accelerate implementation and improve quality. The Walkable City Bureau, the first of its kind in the country, was newly established in July of last year for this purpose.
At the meeting, major agenda items included: plans for leasing abandoned farmland as urban gardens, improvement directions for the space under the Gyeongwon Line overpass, traffic improvement plans for the Mangadae Intersection, and implementation plans for mowing and other activities in 2025.
In particular, the meeting involved sharing management plans for urban spaces such as roads, parks, rivers, and green areas, as well as discussing an integrated approach to mowing and weed control projects. Through this, the city reviewed practical strategies for building a "walkable Uijeongbu" and reaffirmed interdepartmental cooperation and commitment to implementation.
Mayor Donggeun Kim stated, "A walkable city is a key foundation for enhancing citizens' quality of life and moving toward a sustainable city," and urged, "I hope you will actively promote projects so that citizens can experience tangible changes."
