Gyeongbuk Provincial Council to Enhance Transparency and Accountability in Overseas Training Reviews with New System Improvement Task Force

The Gyeongbuk Provincial Council has established the 'Overseas Official Travel System Improvement Task Force (TF)' to strengthen the transparency and accountability of overseas official travel. This initiative aims to ensure that such trips are not merely inspection-oriented or for leisure, but are focused on developing policies and collecting data suitable for the circumstances of North Gyeongsang Province.


The TF will be led by Lee Chunwoo, Chair of the Council Operations Committee, with the Director of Legislative Public Relations serving as the general team leader.

From now on, whenever members of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Council plan overseas official travel, the 'Overseas Official Travel System Improvement TF'?comprised of the Chair of the Council Operations Committee, the Director of Legislative Public Relations, and the chief specialists from each standing committee?will be convened before the official travel review committee meets. The TF will strictly apply travel procedures and review standards, require visits to only one institution per day, minimize the number of participants, and post detailed travel plans on the council's website to ensure the process meets public expectations.


In addition, the TF will continue to hold meetings to enhance the substance of official travel in line with its objectives. Any issues identified will be submitted to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Council of City and Provincial Council Chairs for improvement. The TF will remain in operation until overseas official travel by council members is firmly established.


Vice Chair Choi Byungjun (Acting Chair) stated, "From now on, simple site inspections or tourism-oriented itineraries will not be recognized as legitimate purposes for official travel. We will establish standards for transparent and responsible overseas official travel by developing policies and collecting data that are appropriate for the circumstances of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Council."
