Damyang County in South Jeolla Province announced on June 17 that it will conduct the "2024 Mining and Manufacturing Survey" for businesses with 10 or more employees within the county until July 21.
The Mining and Manufacturing Survey is organized annually by Statistics Korea to examine the industrial structure, distribution of businesses, and the status of industrial activities in the mining and manufacturing sectors. The data collected serve as foundational materials for various policy decisions and academic research.
The survey targets businesses that have a workplace within the county, have operational records in 2024, and employ 10 or more people as of the end of December. There are 90 such businesses. The survey covers a total of 13 items, including the business name, representative, annual shipment amount, and import amount.
The survey will be conducted through both face-to-face interviews, where surveyors visit the business sites directly, and non-face-to-face methods such as internet, email, telephone, and fax. Respondents can choose the survey method that is most convenient for them.
An official from the county stated, "Accurate statistics are an essential foundation for understanding the current state of the county's mining and manufacturing sectors and for establishing effective policies. The survey data will be strictly protected under Article 33 of the Statistics Act and will be used solely for statistical purposes. We ask that all businesses subject to the survey actively cooperate."
Meanwhile, the preliminary results of the survey will be announced by Statistics Korea in December of this year, and the final results will be published on the National Statistical Portal (KOSIS) in February of next year.
