The Seongnam Branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Siheung Police Station announced that they are conducting a search and seizure of SPC Samlip's headquarters and factory offices starting from 9:00 a.m. on June 17, 2025.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor and the police explained that they have deployed approximately 80 personnel, including labor inspectors responsible for investigating serious industrial accidents and police officers, to secure evidence to determine whether there were violations of the Occupational Safety and Health Act, the Serious Accidents Punishment Act, and involuntary manslaughter due to occupational negligence.
Previously, on May 19, 2025, an accident involving a worker being caught in machinery occurred at SPC Samlip's bread production plant in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province.
During this search and seizure, the Ministry of Employment and Labor plans to focus on securing evidence regarding whether safety measures, such as lubrication during machine maintenance, were properly implemented.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor stated, "Based on the evidence secured through this search and seizure, we will thoroughly investigate whether the company's safety and health management system to prevent worker entrapment accidents was properly established, and if any violations of the law are confirmed, we will take strict action."
