Gyeonggi Agricultural Research Institute to Hold Special Exhibition of 40 In-House Developed Traditional Liquors in Seoul, June 19-22

The Gyeonggi-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services will hold a special exhibition featuring over 40 types of traditional liquors that it has developed and transferred to the private sector.

On June 17, the Agricultural Research and Extension Services announced that it will host the "Special Exhibition of Traditional Liquors Developed by the Gyeonggi-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services" at the Traditional Liquor Gallery in Jongno-gu, Seoul, from June 19 to June 22.

This special exhibition will showcase 40 varieties of traditional liquors developed by the institute since 2009 and transferred to industry, including 15 types of Makgeolli, 1 type of Yakju, 11 types of distilled liquors, and 13 other liquors.

The traditional liquors developed by the institute have been recognized for their quality and taste, winning the Presidential Award at the Korean Liquor Competition in 2017 (Hodam Sanyangsam Makgeolli) and the grand prize for two consecutive years in 2019 and 2020 (Honey Wine). These products are actively sold online and at premium bars.

During the event, visitors will be able to sample 10 products that are currently being produced and sold through technology transfer, including 3 Makgeolli (Mimiso), Yeogang 42 (Chuyondang), and Eochapi (Joeunsul).

In addition, there will be consumer tasting evaluations of products based on regional specialties such as Jazz Makgeolli (Woorisul) and Paju Kong Makgeolli (Paju Takju), as well as popular products like Damgold (Naeoldam), Mimi Sour (Eight People Brewery), and Yeoninsam 22 (Yeoncheon Brewing). Tastings will also be held for Makgeolli and distilled liquors made with rice varieties developed by Gyeonggi-do itself (Chamdream, Kawaji No.1, Kkummaji, Yeonjin).

Furthermore, five processed products developed by the institute will be exhibited, including two types of mushroom-based products, solid peanut butter, rice ice cream, and sprouted bean snacks.

Sung Jehun, Director of the Gyeonggi-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services, stated, "Most of the traditional liquors developed by Gyeonggi-do are made with agricultural products grown in the province. We hope this special exhibition will help expand the consumption of Gyeonggi traditional liquors and agricultural products. We will continue to do our best in research and development of various processed products using local agricultural products."
