On June 15 (local time), at Oakmont Country Club (par 70, 7,330 yards) in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, USA, he won the 125th US Open, the third major tournament of the season, with a total prize fund of $21.5 million. This victory marks his second career win, coming more than three years after his first PGA Tour victory at the Valero Texas Open in April 2022, and his first major championship. The winner’s prize is $4.3 million (approximately 5.9 billion KRW).
On the final day, Spon seemed far from victory after making five bogeys in the first six holes. However, after play was suspended and resumed due to severe weather, he made 'stepping-stone birdies' on the 12th and 14th holes, setting up his comeback. He then reduced one more stroke on the 17th hole (par 4), finally taking the lead.
The highlight was his putt on the final 18th hole (par 4). He secured the win with a birdie from approximately 19 meters. This was the only under-par score recorded in the tournament. He commanded the US Open wielding a L.A.B. Golf DF3. On the 18th hole, he produced a moment that will be remembered as one of the greatest putts in US Open history.
